How It All Began…part 2

November 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

Three thousand miles away, in Los Angeles, Karen Jashinsky was pursuing her MBA at USC’s Marshall School of Business. Though her family owned a successful restaurant business, her goal was to one day open a business of her own around her personal passion….fitness! She had earned her certification as a personal trainer/nutritionist and soon found herself pursued by adult clients asking her to train their teens. O2 MAX began brewing in her dreams! And then the accident happened. Karen was training for a bike ride when she was hit by a car. Her serious injuries kept her in recovery mode for several months and was forced to depend on friends and family for almost everything, Karen had an epiphany—She was not Superwoman! She needed help to realize her dream. Her leadership in USC’s Entrepreneur and Venture Management Association led her to meet the Editor of ENTREPRENEUR MAGAZINE who decided to chronicle Karen’s business idea in a series of articles called “Diary of a Startup.” Pam happened to read the article, contacted Karen immediately and flew to LA. (Jet Blue). After a long lunch and longer dinner (where there was so much to share, they agreed to take turns talking and chewing), they decided to join forces and make their shared passion a reality. With cell phones, email, faxes….why not?
