Dustin Carter-inspiration

July 16th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Making it to the Ohio State Tournament for wrestling is an accomplishment in and of itself, but for Dustin Carter it was an inspiration for all. Dustin is a 18 year old 103 pounder, from Hilsboro Ohio, who had a seriouse bacterial blood disease that took both of his arms, and legs. Dustin started out feeling bad for himself, and getting straight F’s in school. In 8th grade, he found his chance to feel like a regular kid, he joined wrestling and love it at first match. Almost all of his matches were losses in the begining, but Dustin never stopped trying and soon went beyond any normal wrestler. Dustin Carter made it to the 2008 Ohio State Tournament, even managing to take 2 wins putting him in the top 16 in his weight class. His final match, the last of his high school career, was a real knock-down drag-out. And although he lost the bout, he won the audience.

Dustin told reporters “I look up and everybody is on their feet. And immediately my eyes started watering” CBSnews.com

This is exactly the type of story that really makes you think about what you’ve got. Very inspirational. Way to go Dustin!
