New Roads Girls Basketball Team Getting Stronger!

New Roads High School Girls varsity basketball team has been training at O2 MAX. They came in for their intro workout the end of October and Coach V. has scheduled them to train 3 times a week. For many of these girls this is their first time in a weight-room/gym setting. They are learning the basics of strength training with emphasis on proper form. The girls are also getting their share of cardio and core conditioning. As a basketball player proper conditioning is essential. They need to be able to run up and down the court without getting winded also be able to move quickly and and have power for jumping and shooting.

 

What these students are learning in the gym will not only help their basketball game and other sports they participate in but help them prepare themselves for a healthy life. Playing a sport helps you understand the time commitment it takes and also gets you into a regular routine for a healthy lifestyle. Now with the addition of strength training these girls can take this information with them wherever their life takes them.
